some poetry...
hiya! day 2 in santiago, CHILE! We crossed the Andes yesterday. They unexpectedly blew my mind...completely menacing. We were up so high the clouds felt really suffocating. And then they would break and you would get this eerily silent glimpse of a white capped peak, shreds of purple, and every shade of grey running through it. It was like you could hear the air slowly gushing around us. To be honest they were terrifying looking! At one point we turned a curve around this massive purple wall of rock. Almost straight up and down and seemingly neverending as far as 'up' was concerned : ) Anyhoo, theyre pretty indescribable but if you have the chance I wish for everyone of you to see them in your lifetime...and the guys at customs at the very tippy top wear these really adorable furry hats : )
Anyways, I've been writing a poem a day and have two to share! I'd love feedback if you feel so inclined...I'm not sure if they're totally finished yet. Ok here goes:
no. 6 dia 11
squash and garbanzo beans,
arugula from the garden,
green tea,
hibiscous tea,
rosemary oregano tea,
sugar,
in and on everything.
cracking an egg was the hardest it's ever been today.
everything turned out okay.
no.23 dia 1
slowly moves the earth
or you.
treading is as much of an action as a reaction.
*I should note here that I have actually been in Chile for a week-ish now, (its hard to tell : ) I started this post in Santiago but have been having a difficult time getting enough internet time to finish! Now I'm in an incredible little town called Olmue. We work on a cuke-asaurus (look it up!) farm/distribution warehouse. Today we built a fence to keep all of the dogs in the yard : ) I have a bed here too and am very thankful for it!!! -linz
